Organizational Setting
UTF/BRA/089/BRA
The project objective is to contribute to the national processes of strengthening
family farmers in Brazil for poverty reduction and rural revitalization. The
outcome is to implement differentiated policies and programs that improve the
capacities of the national government, local and family farmers in areas such as
ATER (rural extension and technical advisory services), Credit Programs, land
access and governance, access to markets and the strengthening of cooperativism.
Reporting Lines
The incumbent reports to the Assistant Representative in FAO Brazil Programme.
Technical Focus
To provide technical support to the Department of Evaluation, Monitoring, Studies
and Strategic Information DAMEI/SE/MDA in the Brazilian agrarian and land issue
in the face of the contemporary challenges of the rural environment, specifically
in relation to the role of access to land in socio-productive inclusion, poverty
and hunger reduction, food and nutrition security and in the agroecological
transition, with a view to specific recommendations and positions on the
formulation and implementation of public policies related to agrarian reform, land
credit and land planning.
Tasks and Responsibilities
" Conduct bibliographic research and surveys and prepare the preliminary document
for discussion;
" Propose the organization of a workshop in a remote format, with experts and
managers on the subject, with the objective of registering comments and
suggestions to the preliminary document for discussion;
" Prepare and coordinate the workshop with experts and managers of the subject;
" Gather, analyze and systematize information collected in the workshop;
" Analyse, systematize and prepare a final document;
" Assist in meetings with representatives of the proposing entities, present the
partial and final results of the products, when requested by DAMEI/SE/MDA managers
and provide the requested information and clarifications.
" Support dialogue with entities representing agrarian reform and family farming
and social movements;
" Monitor the actions developed on the subject of consulting with the agencies
involved.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING:
" University Degree in Agricultural Sciences or Applied Social Sciences or Human
Sciences, according to the CAPES/CNPq table of areas of knowledge;
" In case of having Bachelors degree, at least of 8 (eight) years of experience
in formulation, implementation or analysis of public policies for agrarian reform
and land regularization. In case of having specialization,at least 06 (six) years
of experience in the requested areas. In case of having Master's degree, at least
05 (five) years of experience in the requested areas and in case of having a
Doctorate, at least 03 (three) years of experience in the requested areas.
" Working knowledge (level C) of English or Spanish and working knowledge (level
C) of Portuguese;
" Brazilian nationality or resident of the country with valid work permit.
