Introduction
We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join our Global Product Engineering
team. You will be responsible for engineering and technical support to the Metso
Services group for the GBP business unit. In this position, you will perform a
wide range of design activities and provide technical expertise for executing
engineering product and projects for Bulk Material Handling (BMH) equipment.
Your role plays a crucial part to contribute to our business. In this position,
you will report to Engineering Manager. This position is mainly located in
Sorocaba/SP and it involves up to 20% of travel.
Team you belong to
You will join a team of BMH dedicated to development of engineering projects for
bulk equipment. We work closely with internal / external stakeholders, such as
engineering, product, projects etc. Our team culture is all about customer in
center, high ambition always, getting it done together and open and honest.
The members in our team are located in globally.
What youll do
Prepare design ideas and solutions for Bulk equipment in mechanical and structural
disciplines.
Work with Resource and Development (R&D) activities, leading the execution of new
ideas and product development to support the aftermarket business.
Apply mechanical engineering knowledge, principles, and best practices to meet
customer requirements and specifications.
Prepare mechanical and structural 3D models shop drawings, specifications, and
procedures to facilitate fabrication, construction, and assembly for Bulk Material
Handling equipment or services to refurbish, upgrade, or retrofit.
Perform calculations to ensure safe function of equipment for refurbishment,
upgrade, or retrofit.
Provide local and global expertise and support in Bulk Material Handling
equipment.
This includes design, fabrication, quality assurance, sourcing, and
troubleshooting.
Visit customer offices and plants around the world to determine physical
restrictions or limitations for refurbishment, upgrade, or retrofit.
Work as a member of a multicultural and interdisciplinary team, working in global
GBP projects.
Resolve
Non-conformance and manufacturing deviation issues.
Investigate mechanical problems and proposes corrective actions and/or repair
procedures.
Provides technical support to field service representatives.
When appropriate, makes recommendations to improve field methods and efficiency.
Provides design expertise and solutions to Metso sister companies worldwide.
Train and mentor junior engineers and designers.
Maintain awareness of current state-of-the-art technologies and trends in
mechanical engineering and suggest product improvement ideas.
Travel (up to 20%) may be required as needed, including both domestically and
internationally.
Perform other miscellaneous duties as requested.
Who you are
Mechanical Engineering degree. Relevant experience in the mechanical design and
specification of Bulk Material Handling equipment, as Apron Feeders, Stackers,
Reclaimers, Ship Loaders & Unloaders, Car Dumpers, Belt Feeders and Conveyors.
Strong experience in Autodesk Inventor.
Experience using a DEM modeling is a plus. Experience using a FEA modeling with
Ansys is a plus. Working knowledge of Vault, SAP, Microsoft Office Products.
Fluent in English, spoken and written. Spanish is a plus. Knowledge of machine
design, including static and fatigue loaded structures, material selection, and
power transmission.
Theoretical and practical background in Mechanical Engineering design principles
and machine design (structural, machining, gearboxes, bolting, manufacturing,
welding, casting, NDT methods, etc). Valid drivers license and a passport. This
position requires infrequent domestic and international travel.
