About the Role:
Are you a Software Engineering Manager with a knack for steering technology teams
towards excellence? Join our vibrant and rapidly expanding team in Brazil. As the
leader overseeing the development of Wiley's Author Services platforms, you'll
play a pivotal role in driving our software delivery capability to new heights.
Collaborate with our distributed technology leadership team and be instrumental in
ensuring a responsive and high-performance approach to software development.
How you will make an impact:
Strategic Collaboration:
Work closely with other technical leaders to craft and execute a robust software
engineering strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
Mentorship and Guidance:
Share your expertise by mentoring team members and colleagues in various areas
including architecture, software development, quality engineering best practices,
and interpersonal skills, thereby nurturing talent and fostering professional
growth.
Continuous Improvement:
Lead efforts to identify, develop, and implement enhancements in software
development practices, driving efficiency and innovation within the team.
Effective Management:
Take charge of planning, directing, and coordinating software development and
testing activities to ensure optimal resource utilization and timely delivery of
high-quality solutions. Manage team members effectively, promoting team
development and cohesion across different locations, while also addressing
performance issues proactively and in accordance with HR policies.
Talent Development and Recruitment:
Focus on the holistic development of team members through training, coaching, and
performance reviews. Additionally, play a key role in recruitment efforts,
attracting top talent to further strengthen the team.
What we look for:
Educational Background:
A Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
Managerial Experience:
Proven track record as a technology manager with a strong background in software
development.
Methodology Proficiency:
Proficiency in Agile/Scrum and SAFe frameworks, demonstrating an understanding of
effective project management methodologies.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in software engineering across diverse technology stacks, with
hands-on experience in Java and SpringBoot for services.
Automation Expertise:
Knowledgeable in automated processes such as CI/CD, Containers, Orchestration, and
Infrastructure as Code (IaC), showcasing a commitment to efficiency and
innovation.
Leadership Qualities:
Self-motivated, independent, with a knack for performance management and driving
results. Possessing coaching and mentoring skills, with a strong team and
service-oriented mindset.
Language Proficiency:
Fluent in both Portuguese and English, capable of providing technical training and
fostering effective communication across teams.
Distributed Services Experience:
Experience working with distributed services, demonstrating adaptability and
versatility in a dynamic environment.
