At STM Journals, we collaborate with researchers to facilitate the publication of their impactful scientific discoveries, with a focus on rigorous peer review, ethics, and reproducibility. In support of our portfolio of 2700+ hybrid and open access scientific journals, you will actively contribute to advancing science, improving health outcomes, and fostering equitable participation in publishing. About the Role In this role of Associate Scientific Editor for the Author Heroes team, you'll use your scientific expertise and problem-solving skills, improving the author experience and help authors find a suitable home for their paper. Responsibilities Evaluating content as a partner to external editors. Improving on the editorial process for editors and reviewers. Engaging closely with authors to help them improve their manuscripts. helping authors increase their odds of success to be published in another journal if rejected from their first choice. Offering authors guidance and ensure a smooth overall experience for authors who submit to our journals. Requirements Have a PhD in Medical Sciences discipline(s) (e.g. radiology, neurology, oncology, hematology, hepatology, dermatology and respiratory medicine) with experience of clinical research. Have an experimental, results-driven, and enthusiastic work attitude. Display a proven record of published papers in scientific journals. Be technology savvy, familiar with online platforms, social media and digital content. Have good communication skills and excellent written and spoken English. Be a relationship builder and self-starter; ability to build relationships both within the scientific community, and within Elsevier. Able to thrive in a large, international, matrixed environment. Have broad scientific interest and desire to serve and help customers in the scientific and clinical community. (Authors, editors, and reviewers.
