The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager will be responsible for oversight of the
Quality Programs and Performance in the LATAM. This supervision includes ensuring
programs comply with company policies, specifications, food safety standards,
government regulations, and industry best practices including cGMP and preventive
controls. The QA Manager will serve as the senior point of contact for all
escalated Product Management/Manufacturing issues.
Job Responsibilities
Engage proactively with the Commercial team (Sales & Product Management) to
resolve quality roadblocks to success as well as leverage quality as a competitive
advantage.
Serve as a Quality/Food Safety subject matter expert for providing guidance /
advice to key stakeholders.
To be a strategic point of contact between internal and external customers for all
quality and food safety related requires and to proactively engage with the
Commercial team (SI/FS Sales, Product Management), TS and Quality Team as required
to successfully resolve quality roadblocks.
Introduce and implement the quality processes and tools required to ensure product
quality and customer satisfaction.
Help assure all facilities under responsibility maintain GFSI certifications and
operate under GFSI principles at the top performance level.
Assess and monitor Quality/Food Safety Management System and products under scope.
Drive requirements and solutions with all internal stakeholders such as Quality,
TS, Manufacturing, and Logistics teams to support customers requirements.
Monitoring the Quality performance in LATAM;
Main accountabilities
Drive initiatives derived from LATAM/Global Quality.
Oversee the management of Quality and Food Safety programs, ensuring legal
compliance with national and international standards.
Oversee the management of Food Safety Programs and strategies for new products as
needed.
Provide support to enable and empower our employees and contractors on EHSQS
matters to ensure everyone is engaged in shaping our EHSQS programs.
Partner with Operations to further improve upon KPIs as part of a proactive
continuous improvement program which includes RFT (1st pass quality performance),
Blocked Stock Inventory (reductions), and customer complaints (reductions).
Review and support of projects that directly impact Quality Assurance in their
region that stretch across and will be the lead contact person for Quality on such
projects.
Lead support and execution of audits for Quality as needed.
Lead products quality certifications for regulatory compliance, religious, organic
or GMO status and others products certification as needed
Facilitate resolution of quality complaints with customers, include claims.
Work closely with Quality, Sales, Product Management, ICD, Technical Service,
Customer Service and Supply Chain related to customer/product issues
Develop technical quality and food safety documents to customers, based on
legislation and other necessary technical information
Participate in key business processes such as MOC, QMM, PLM Workflow approvals,
and others as required by the nature of the role to ensure all changes to
specifications, policies, customer requirements and legislation updates are
effectively communicated, controlled, approved and implemented to mitigate risk to
the business.
Support Quality and Food Safety risk assessment of products with scientific
knowledge and regulatory standard.
Support regional activities in Quality and Food Safety regulatory changes, as
define by regulatory team, supporting compliance related to labelling, customer
documentation, sanitary licenses and other requirements.
Participate as requested in other project / program activities to support Tate &
Lyle growth and quality strategy.
Identify issues and continuous improvement opportunities in the Quality and
operations in the region, addressing them with action plans to improve the
relationship with customers, stakeholders and to simplify the ways of working.
Maintain updated procedures for activities.
Provide training and clarify process related Quality activities
Responsible for preparation and reporting monthly review of quality KPI's for
LATAM region.
Other duties as assigned by line manager.
The Recipe For Success:
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Food Engineering,
Chemistry or comparable required;
5+ years of related Quality Assurance Management experience (in a food
manufacturing plant)
Formal Quality/Food Safety System training is strongly preferred.
Professional Register
Strong knowledge of SAP Quality Management system preferred
Effective communicator in Portuguese, both verbally and written.
Strong oral and written communication skills in English
Strong oral communication skills in Spanish
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Strong knowledge of SAP Quality Management system preferred
Strong chemistry and microbiological background
Experience with GFSI Food Safety certification management preferred.
Thorough understanding & working knowledge of Food safety, Food defense, Allergen
Program, HACCP and other customer standards
Familiarity and experience with Product certification (as Halal, kosher, No GMO)
preferred.
Robust understanding of legislation relating to the food industry.
To be able to negotiate and achieve practical and sustainable solutions to issues
across all related plants and products. Be a solid partner and align with Regional
Ops leaders on appropriate, feasible solution to problems.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or concerns from customers, regulatory
agencies, and/or members of the business community in a professional, customer
focused manner.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid
conclusions.
Ability to multi task and manage multiple projects concurrently with an ability to
discern prioritize work accordingly (high vs. low; value added vs. non-value
added)
Ability to work with a high degree of integrity and respect for our products and
people
A working knowledge of computers and business software such as and Excel, Word,
PowerPoint, Outlook, and SAP is required.
