Position Summary:
Illumina is seeking a driven and dynamic candidate to join a successful and expanding Finance organization. The Senior Accounting Analyst will be a key member of Illuminas accounting team and will have direct exposure in supporting one of Illuminas faster growing regions, Latin America. The ideal candidate will support the continued growth in Brazil and will be involved in the integration of new LATAM entities:
Mexico, Colombia, Panama, Peru, Chile, and Uruguay.
The Senior Accounting Analyst will be based in Sao Paulo, Brazil and report to the
Associated Director, LATAM Controller with frequent communications to the
Corporate Finance and Tax teams in the US, and LATAM Customer Care and Commercial
teams. The ideal candidate will work through complex issues and projects
independently, as well as collaboratively with other finance and cross-functional
team members. The successful candidate will be able to work and communicate
effectively in a team environment, interacting with all levels of our
organization, international team members, and external auditors.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with bookkeeping service providers and support corporate accounting on
aspects of the monthly accounting close process, including ensuring all costs
incurred are properly recorded, reviewing account balance reconciliations,
variance analysis, reconciliation between third party records and Illumina SAP
book of record.
Review service provider support to ensure importation process, invoicing, and
prepayments are accurate and processed within 24-hour period outlined in the
Service Level Agreement.
Collaborate with corporate tax, accounting and service providers to support
accurate and timely transfer pricing models, local tax filings, and other general
tax compliance, as needed.
Collaborate with service provider to ensure accurate and timely management of
inventory in SAP, including reviewing the monthly inventory reconciliation.
Collaborate with service provider to follow capital management process, including
reviewing asset management and depreciation schedules.
Provide guidance on T&E policies and ensure compliance to policies, coordinating
with Shared Services.
Support local Commercial and Customer Services teams to address any payment,
invoicing, payroll, procurement, commissions, and policy questions as needed.
Support AMR Commercial Finance team as needed on accounting issues that impact
revenue projections, revenue and OpEx forecasting.
Collaborate with corporate Accounting team to ensure compliance with statutory
reporting requirements
Initiate and drive projects to enhance and automate internal controls over
financial reporting (system enhancements, integrations, implementations, etc.,)
Support internal and external business partners, as well as regional teams
Experience:
Life science and manufacturing industries accounting experience a plus
Must be able to conduct business in English and Portuguese (Spanish a plus)
Ability to exercise judgement within defined procedures and policies to determine
appropriate action
Ability to execute assignments in the form of objectives with goals
Ability to provide direction to employees according to established policies and
management guidance, administer company policies that directly affect subordinate
employees and recommend changes to unit or sub-unit policies
Applies expertise to set direction and resolve problems in own discipline
Ability to identify and resolve technical, operational and organizational problems
Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees,
management and external agencies
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications especially Microsoft Excel
Prior experience in SAP and BlackLine experience a plus
Highly detail oriented and organized in work
Ability to be flexible and work analytically in a problem-solving environment
Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
Proven track record in driving projects and process improvement initiatives
Education:
Bachelors or higher degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
CPA or local equivalent and/ or Big 4/ Regional Public Accounting experience
preferred
Minimum of 5 years progressively responsible accounting and finance experience
